Megan Anna Rapinoe, born in Redding California on 5 July 1985. Megan first began playing soccer when she was a child and developed her abilities throughout her teens. Rachael and Megan Rapinoe attended an institution called the University of Portland, Oregon. Megan Rapinoe was a star of the university's soccer team and was among the top players in women's soccer at collegiate levels in the United States. The knee injury she suffered, however, forced her to sit out a portion of her sophomore as well as junior seasons. When she was a junior, she began playing soccer every day of the year. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in science degree in sociology from the University of Portland, graduating in 2008. Rapinoe was drafted for the Chicago Illinois Red Stars in the recently formed Women's Professional Soccer WPS. They played her until the end of 2010 when the team broke up. Rapinoe spent a brief time playing for The Philadelphia Pennsylvania Independence before being traded to Boca Raton Florida MagicJack. The magicJack placed third in the year after Rapinoe's two goals. The magicJack ended up dissolving in late 2011, and the WPS was disbanded in the beginning of 2012. Rapinoe was a part of Sydney Football Club FC in the Australian W-League for a couple games prior to her return back to America. She then played for The Seattle Washington Sounders Women (now the Sound FC). Rapinoe's 2013 season was spent doing soccer with France. She then became a member of the National Women's Soccer League NWSL (formerly the WPS) that was formed as a response to the WPS's dissolution. Rapinoe was one of their best scorers, and ultimately became captain. She was part of the U.S. Olympic female soccer team which competed at London England. Rapinoe was a key player in helping the U.S. Olympic women's soccer team win a gold at those Olympics. She scored or assisted several goals which helped the team win. In 2016 she competed at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Her U.S. squad was eliminated from the event in Rio. The first time Rapinoe played in the FIFA Women's World Cup was back in 2011. She was instrumental in leading her team U.S. Women's World Cup team to consecutive wins in the year 2015. In 2018 she became cocaptain of the national team. Rapinoe was the one who scored two goals for the United States in the 4-3 victory against Australia at the Olympics bronze medal match in Tokyo in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic which Japan was forced to postpone to 2021 due to the effects of this pandemic, also took home the gold medal in Tokyo in 2016.
